It doesn’t hurt at all! The sensation resembles a light massage – imagine your feet are being dipped in Champagne and the bubbles are kissing your toes! It may take a few minutes to get used to the feeling if it’s your first time – only one way to find out!
Yes, perfectly safe! The fish don’t even have teeth! They simply suck away and remove dry or dead skin. They have been used for centuries at spas in Turkey to treat conditions like Psoriasis. The water in our tanks is constantly filtered and sterilised to provide a happy and healthy environment for our fish and your feet.
They are often called Doctor Fish, Nibble Fish, Kangal Fish, Little Dermatologists & Reddish brown log suckers. They originate from the river basins across parts of the Middle East, such as Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.
Once your feet are placed in the warm water, the fish will be attracted to areas where you have hard, dead or flaky skin, which they then gently suck away and remove. They don’t eat healthy skin.
Of course! They have to be fed daily on a complementary food to keep them happy and healthy.
The fish are very active little creatures with a very high metabolism. When they are full they will rest and other fish will take over – they will not all feed at the same time. There will be over 100 fish in each tank and they will soon adapt to the tank conditions.
It’s a completely natural and organic pedicure to make your feet feel soft and silky. It promotes relaxation, micro-massaging your feet to promote blood circulation and oxygenation. The added benefit is that it will make you laugh!
There have been no known cases of infection through the use of this treatment. The water is constantly being circulated and sterilised by a state-of-the-art filtration system to provide clean fresh water for your feet, and to keep our fish healthy.
The treatment is suitable for everyone. However, if you’re suffering from open wounds /scabs / athletes foot or verrucas, you should not undergo this treatment until fully healed. If you have just applied fake tan or nail polish, you would have to wait 24 hours before having a treatment. Also if you are planning a fish spa pedicure please do not wax or shave for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
